What makes a photograph interesting? Which point all successful photographers have in common !! The answer is simple - Two things can make a photograph interesting. First is the MOMENT & 2nd the COMPOSITION. A good picture may have both or either of the two. So to get an exciting image I don't need the best gear or powerful computer for post processing. The Nikon D3300 is a decent camera to begin with for those who love photography.

Nikon D3300 is the youngest of Nikon DSLR lineup. And the cheapest as well. As an entry level model it doesn't have many pro features but still shines as a very good performer when comes to image quality. The 24 megapixel APS-C sensor can take beautiful images if you use it wisely. The images shown here are all shot in RAW (NEF) format then processed in Nikon Capture NX-D.

AF-S Nikkor 300 mm F4E PF ED VR is the latest 300 mm F4 lens from Nikon with all sorts technological advancement. While a standard 70-300 mm zoom lens meets the need of most users these prime lenses are targeted for photographers who want optimum image quality and performance for specific purpose. Unlike a consumer zoom lens prime lenses can serve for decades before they are updated. The AF-S Nikkor 300 mm f/4D IF-ED lens was released back in 2000.

Nikon announced the AF-S Nikkor 300 mm f/4E PF ED VR lens in early 2015. An update of AF-S Nikkor 300 mm f/4D IF-ED lens after a long time which was released back in 2000. The old master was renowned for its optical performance and still a highly regarded lens. So all of us anxiously waiting to see how the new kid out perform the old one and by what margin.

The Nikon D810 is a high end DSLR. It's a camera that competes with entry level Medium format digital cameras with the flexibility of 35mm. At full resolution ( 7360 X 4912 ) it can generate a 24.5 X 16.4 inch print @ 300 dpi, which is excellent. Even at 1.5X crop mode (4800 X 3200 = 15.36MP) printable size is 16 X 10 inch @ 300 dpi. The camera was targeted for use in the field of studio photography or landscape photography. As a result it performs best at lower ISO spectrum unlike Nikon D4s which is the opposite.

In early 2012 Nikon released the Nikon D800. It surprised the DSLR world with 36MP sensor with high dynamic range. I was expecting to get one. However soon it became clear that the unit has some major flaw, no all but a significant number of D800 & D800E had critical focusing issue

To me butterflies are like flowers in flight. The diversity of their iridescent color, shape and size is a wonder of mother nature. Its always fascinating to photograph them which reveals their beauty. And they are available all around us - at the backyard, in the nearby park or in the jungle.

I had an old vivitar autofocus 2X Tele converter in film days. As the digital era started it turned out that these converters can generate worst kind of image, so it went out of service. But why not through away the inner glass element of this converter and turn it into an extension tube. So I removed all the glass component and covered the shiny aspects with black felt found in the opening of good old film canister. Now I have a fully functional AF Extension Tube. Which works perfectly with my Nikons. And it's solid too. I have been using it for a long time and it has become a permanent part of my macro setup.

The Nikon AF Micro-Nikkor 200mm f/4D IF-ED was released back in 1993. When most of the lenses are updated at every  6 to 10 years, this lens is standing in production line for more than 21 years. Seems quite interesting isn't it. After using this lens for quite some time, its pretty much clear to me why they are reluctant to update it. I'll share my experience which will give you some clue about it.

The standard tool of macro photography is a Macro lens. But a lot of us can't afford a dedicated macro lens due to high expense. A reversing ring is an easy solution. But the major disadvantage of using a reversing ring is that, you have no control on aperture. You have to set the aperture manually or use third party device to make it work. And in macro photography a hair movement of the lens while setting the aperture can make the image out of focus.

This is a video of Super Moon from last September. It was recorded in Chittagong around 90 minute after sunset. It was quite windy, so I mounted the camera on a Manfrotto 190 series tripod. The Cloud and the Bats flying past the bright light of the Super Moon created a beautiful environment. I used Nikon D7100 camera with AFS Nikkor 300/f4 ED + TC 1.4E II Tele converter. The effective focal length was around 800 mm due to 1.3x crop mode.

In general taking close up photo of an object is regarded as Macro Photography. One has to understand many technical terms, calculation and use of specialised software if you want to grab the whole world of macro. But for most of us to take decent Macro Photo we don’t need that much knowledge.

Macro is a genre of photography which allures most of us. To gain access into this world of wonder the simplest piece of gear is an Extension Tube. Which is equally helpful whether you are a beginner or a veteran. Extension tube is a hollow tube and has no glass in it. To take close up picture we simply have to fit it in between the DSLR camera & lens.

I often say that Computer Hard disks are like Time bomb. They will go off at any moment, but we don't know exactly when. But it certainly will. And once its gone it will go down with all your precious memory and valuable documents.
It's absolutely necessary to make backup copies of all your Photos at regular interval. Professional Photographers use high-end server to meet their demand. I use a scale down version to serve my need.

After coming from an event most of us usually keep photos in desktop forever until low disk space force us to move it to another location. But if we keep them in an organized way, things will remain tidy.
Over the years I have learned how to create a folder structure for photos that fulfil my need. It helps to keep photos organized, including scanned image from film days to mobile phone photos of digital era.

The world of macro photography has always fascinated me like any other person. In this article I'll explain how do I achieved high magnification. For most of my close-up work I use AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D lens. The benefits of using a 60mm instead of 105mm macro lens are-

1. A 60 mm lens can be used as a Normal lens

2. It's a very good lens for copying object without distortion
